Those patterns often reveal more than the puddle itself.

Creating a Drier Crawl Space

Once bulk water sources have been corrected, the goal is to prevent moisture from continually returning.

Depending on the home, this may involve improving exterior drainage, correcting grading, repairing plumbing, installing or repairing a ground vapor barrier, improving a drainage system, or managing crawl space humidity.

Some properties with recurring groundwater may also benefit from a sump system.

What matters is the order.

Stopping active water entry comes before trying to control humidity. Otherwise, you’re asking a dehumidifier or vapor barrier to solve a problem it wasn’t designed to handle.
